Small business success with social media
The first wave of Social Media stories were, predictably, mainstream media pointing out early adopters and saying, “Hey, look at that! What’re they doing?”
There was (and often still is) usually a sniff of condescension in the reports…something along the lines of “kooky, interesting, but ultimately probably useless…but here’s the report anyway!”.
The next wave were the holy cow stories. Holy cow, Facebook raised a lot of money. Holy cow, everyone is talking about Twitter. Holy cow, MySpace is breaking new bands.
Next….we have the “giant brands are using social media successfully” stories.
Zappos…tons of press about their efforts….Dell, excellent overview of their efforts here.
Even Bank of America has gotten into the social media act as they flap their arms and try to fly.
Now…we are starting to see the smaller businesses trying their
